Milestones are important.
Whether it be major events, such as an anniversary, a high-school graduation, a birthday; or smaller events or occasions in our lives, such as signing your first phone tariff or passing your provisional driving test – these are all important steps in our lives that we choose to celebrate both individually, and together with our friends and family.
They mark points in our lives where we look inwards and define what is truly important to us, as individuals, before celebrating and recognising what we have achieved. While there are commonly accepted and recognised milestones that exist across the many different communities and cultures of the United Kingdom, the undeniable and powerful truth to a milestone is that you, and you alone, have the power to choose what you wish to mark as an important achievement in your own life.
We hold the control of defining what we seek to achieve in life and what is important to us. This freedom cannot be taken away from us.
However, many milestones can be challenging to achieve, and often we will struggle to meet such special marks in a manner befitting its significance to our lives. There is often a give-and-take relationship between an effort or cost that must be invested for the return of such success, and the question being to the individual is whether they are willing to bear such a sacrifice to gain the fruitful rewards and satisfaction associated with reaching what we have sought to achieve. That age old saying “there is no such thing as a free lunch” comes to mind.
So why is this relevant? Why have I sought to create an inspiring few paragraphs on the topic of milestones?
Well, this week marks the one-year anniversary of Peak Physique Studios!
A huge milestone in the lives of Miguel and Catherine, two of the most hardworking, passionate and professional people I have ever met, who over the past year, have invested their lives into making this company the success it is.
Now, I could sit here and list down the statistics that relay the significant challenges all start-up businesses face, and crucially, the overwhelming odds that this company faced in surviving its first six-months, let alone one year, however, it would be imprudent of me to focus on such a negative in life in order to establish and confirm the overwhelming positive, that this milestone is, that these two lovely people have achieved here, today.
Success is derivative of hard work, and these two achieve success every day. But the success they have achieved through Peak Physique Studios has not been alone.
They have been supported by an equally passionate, professional and hardworking team. As Miguel often reminds me, “success is derivative of the collective, not the individual, and by working together, we have no limitations to the success we can achieve in our studio”.
Then there is the most important ingredient to the success of the studio, and that is YOU, our community of the best people! Each of the 365 days of the year have been marked by the individual milestones that have been met by you all. Passionate individuals who have invested themselves into achieving what they have set out to achieve – whether it is a new personal best on the tread mill, hitting 200 sessions for the year or simply making one session a week. It is these individual milestones and successes that we celebrate each and every day in the studio, and are those that have made the milestone of one year the success it is, and in recognising it shall be these successes and milestones over the next year and beyond that will continue to see the studio grow, develop and mature even further under the leadership of Miguel and Catherine.
So today and this week we shall celebrate this milestone, in the only way Miguel and Catherine know how (refer to sheet in studio for all the fun activities planned), and it is our hope that we carry on this celebration and mentality for success, and crucially, the recognition of our successes as individuals, as a community and as a team, into the future, as we always have here at the studio.
This blog has been created to mark the commencement of our second year, and it is our intention to utilise this medium of exchange to further communicate and celebrate the milestones that occur at our studio, the challenges we face as individuals and as the collective. It is our hope, that we can develop this blog into a safe community space for everyone to share together as we have done so in our first year as Essex’s number one fitness centre.
